The Forest Hill Lantern Festival

A Bit of Information So I finally got around today to posting our experience at the Lantern festival.  It was beautiful as usual.  It was especially touching for us this year because my husbands father who recently past away is buried there with his mother.  It was his first time so we were touched by it. We both sent messages to our fathers and his mother. I posted some pictures below. This past Thursday the 10th Annual Lantern Festival was held at the  Forest Hills Cemetery  in Jamaica Plain. This Buddhist-ritual inspired event has long been a big draw for Boston-area photographers and this year was no different. As the paper lanterns inscribed with personal messages floated across Lake Hibiscus and Japanese drummers performed many cameras were snapping the serene scene. Check out the photos for a feel of this special night. Buddiat Drummer The first float before dusk

My First Anniversary

So It's almost my first anniversary July 31, 2010!  When I got married last year I think I spent more time doing the Invitation design suite than I ever did on any  piece of art work.  I thought I would post it for you to see.  I kept the Paper Source in business last year for sure.  There were  many aspects to it and I sent out about 120 invitations.  I got married under a big beautiful tree at Hampshire College with origami birds and butterflies hanging from the tree.  Then we had a big party in the barn on the campus. It went into the night and the wedding  was all homemade  from the cupcakes, vows, wishing tree, decorations to the dress. My friends and family did everything including setting up the barn.  Here are a few pictures of what we did, and the fun we had!  Beautiful day Happy couple The Funniest Wedding Photo Ever and I love it! We love cupcakes My Invitation it only took all summer to design! ...

Centre Street Before & After

E.W Clark's Dry Goods Store on the corner of Centre and Seavern's Now it is City feed and Supply Not much different then it was then. I love that old is new again. The building has not changed that much over the years and now we have this nice new store I suspect very similar to Clark's was back then. Of course they have a mural Like most stores in Jamaica Plain  do these days.                                                  Of course I had to add the mural across the street at                    Purple Cactus which I think is one of the most beautiful murals in Jamaica Plain.

I Love Gardening !

I love gardening  I think I spend all day weeding, watering filling buckets from my rain barrel, planting and of course buying more! So why not blog about it.  Working in my garden is like a meditation for me.  It is the first time I have ever lived anywhere that I can actually have a garden and a yard. To me I consider it part of my year I love to photograph so why not incorporate my summer just an apple by my window view from my studio upstairs to the porch upstairs front porch downstairs Clematis on its way out say goodbye I have to change it up all time to stay fresh.  It's too nice to be in the studio today and there is not much time left for a teacher to work in the garden!

A Saturday Afternoon

Located across from Bromley Heath Housing Center, this mural depicts what one would see if they were to drive up Center Street on a Saturday Afternoon in this Jamaica Plain neighborhood.

Mural Pictures

Jamaica Plain has the most murals out of any neighborhood in the Boson.   I posted on the following pages a few of the murals with some information that I could find on them because some do not exist anymore. Stay tunes for some newer murals as well as artist interviews! Paul Cezanne Gaugin was a French artist who often painted images of Carribean natives. This mural is a collage of three of his artworks. It is painted on the wall outside the            Bella Luna Restaurant in Jamaica Plain.

Jamaica Plain Artist & My First Post!

Well today I finally got my Mac back from my families house where I was visiting my Mother and brother his wife and kids or 3 days.  The only problem is I really left two days ago but forgot my Mac (my world).  So I am a bit behind on the postings I wanted to do this weekend.  I tried to drive out yesterday and my husband’s car was pulled over and we could not figure out why?   Well it was supported be registered a MONTH ago. So no big deal just $100 ticket and go the cop said go home so we did and planned on just taking my car as I bitched about how irresponsible he was letting this happen well guess what?  My car said June 2011 too.  That Karma Lady can be terrible. So I guess we were not going anywhere yesterday and spent the morning at the registry and then drove 2 hours to go get it today. So here we are the first post for the art of Jamaica Plain! Since I am a teacher I though the first post should be dedicated to one of my students....
