Last but not least

So this is my finial blog for my Mass College of Art class with Professor Sharon Butler.  Now that I have my missing keys back it makes it much easier to type.  The class has been wonderful and exciting compared to the other ones I had to take.  I actually enjoyed it.  I will continue to blog About Jamaica Plain and other thing that interest me.  It may not be as often because I will be back in school teaching art VERY soon.  So my summer starts now.  Two weeks of no classes what a treat! If you would like to know more about social networking and how to blog this is the class to take and I highly recommend it. Professor Butler is a wealth of information and can answer just about any question or problem you may have. So this is for you Professor Butler and I will continue the blog because I am enjoying it. Thank You One of my Morning Glories I grew from seed.  The colors are am...

JP Knit and Stitch

My friend Genevieve recently open a fabric and knitting store in Jamaica Plain.  What A great new addition to the local businesses! Its a beautiful space and if you are in JP you crafty people should check it out. She carries my favorite fabric designer which you will see in the next post.  If you click on the title of the post it will take you to her website.

Marimekko

I can't seem to get enough of Merimekko especially the artist Sanna Aunnkka. The company is a Finnish company based in Helsinki that has made important contributions to fashion, especially in the 1960s and 1970s. They are particularly noted for brightly-colored printed fabrics and simple styles, used both in women's garments and in home furnishings. My friend Genivie's store in Jamaica Plain that I metioned above carries Marimekko. You can go there and drool over it like I do. She has a good selection of some reissued Marimekko prints as well as new designs and many other designers that are amazing.  Even though They have a concept store in Cambridge it's nice to know you can go down the block and pick up some fantastic Marimekko fabric. Here are some examples of Sanna Annukka one of my favortite Marimekko designers. You can also click on the title of this post and it will take you to her website.

Cape Haunting

So the wedding was a hit and went off without a hitch, and all had fun.  I did a bit research on Captain Linnell's house when I got home and it seem it was abandoned for many years after his death and went into disrepair for many years.  The current owner took 15-22 years restoring it to its former glory.  You can read about the haunting it in this book: Cape Encounters: Contemporary Cape Cod Ghost Stories   By Dan Gordon, Gary Joseph write  http://books.google.com/books?id=kd9J_Ug2nK0C&lpg=PA11&ots=fcMuB1RR0i&dq=haunting%20at%20captain%20linnell%20house%20cape%20was%20there%20a%20ghost&pg=PA11#v=onepage&q&f=false
